The brother and the sisters and I hosted a surprise birthday party for my Mom last Saturday. She was totally surprised, which totally surprised me. It's not easy for me to keep secrets from her even when she lives 300+ miles away! The party was enjoyed by family and friends alike! Hats off to my oldest younger sister who did all of the coordinating (as in telling everyone where to go, what to do and when) from her home on the west coast. A big bow to our spouses who put up with our frazzled selves!
My surprise was that somewhere along the line the annual couples retreat at our church got changed from the 3rd weekend of September to the 2nd weekend. Only by God's mercy (we will get our money back) did we find that out about before things got wildly out of control. Husband and I took off from ALL our jobs and had my Mom coming to stay for the weekend starting 9/18. She is still willing to come and we can do whatever we want to do that weekend. Where to start? Attic, basement, garage. Hope all our church friends are blessed this weekend, whether at the retreat or here in town!
